Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. The township was organized in 1798 as the first township in Pike County. Its name is said to derive from Pee Pee Creek, which in turn is said to come from the initials of an Irish settler. It is the only Pee Pee Township statewide. Pee Pee Township is convert|32.4|sqmi|km2 in size, including convert|0.69|sqmi|km2 of water and convert|3.92|sqmi|km2 within the village limits of Waverly. The convert|429|acre|km2|sing=on Lake White State Park is also located in this township.
